This is the second of two excerpts from a field recording of wind chimes hanging from the front porch of my home in south central tennesee. A zoom h1n recorder was placed below the wind chimes and set to record in wav format. The high-pass filter in audacity was used to reduce wind noise. The recording was made in march of 2021.

Recorded at cirsten rock, national park germany. 44100 - 24 bit, xy - zoom h6. This is an edited sample of the recording. Namely, i removed a noisy part and united two different parts of the recording. It's interesting at some point how the wind flows gently and playfully at this magnificent high altitude spot.

Group kmm-the beginning of this sample has a piano playing in the background. There is a lot of wind noise. There is the sound of a door being closed. There is the sound of a train in the distance at the end. Recorded with a zoom h4 handheld recorder, high gain.

It was a very cold and windy day when i visited the mile high swinging bridge at the top of grandfather mountain. Unfortunately, i did not have a windscreen, so there is a bit of noise in the recording of the "singing" bridge. The reason i say "singing" is that the high winds were blowing through the 228-foot long suspension bridge bars making a haunting sort of song. It is considered the highest suspension footbridge in north america at just over a mile high.

A flash thunderstorm in queensland came about randomly in the afternoon and i thought it would be cool to recorded it. I recorded it under an awning since i didn't want to get the recorder wet and the awning was acting a little like a wind tunnel so there's these high pitch wind noises too. Wind can sometimes play havoc with recording --- but, with some luck you can get good wind recordings. Here is a recording of lake waves lapping at the short of a small lake in southern illinois. This particular day, the winds were blowing steady out of the south at 25 miles an hour, with gusts even higher. Recording made with my trusted zoom h4n recorder, using its built-in microphones. Of course a foam wind-screen made this recording listenable. Without the foam wind-screen the recording would simply have been an obnoxious, unintelligable roar!also, since the waves were so loud to begin with, i did not have to crank the recording gain real high -- i had the gain only on 65 for this recording. .
